Maize USD 266 celebrates School Transportation Appreciation Day

Gov. Laura Kelly designated Wednesday, Oct. 20, as School Transportation Appreciation Day! Here are some fast facts about our amazing Maize USD 266 Transportation team:

  • There are 110 Transportation employees.
  • The district owns 64 big buses, which are used to run 68 routes each school day, and 26 mini buses, which run 22 routes each school day.
  • 3,521 students are transported to and from school each day.
  • The district has 1,614 bus stops. 
  • The big buses use an average of 74 gallons of diesel fuel a week.
  • On average, transportation travels 47,655 miles a month.
  • During the winter months, bus drivers drink an average of 12 gallons of coffee every day!
