2023 Celebrating Excellence in Paraeducators

Teah Roen, Media Center para for Maize Intermediate School, applied for her role to see if teaching was the best fit for her. She also loves books and figured it would be a great first step into education. In her position, she moves between the library and cafeteria, where she sees more than 600 students a day. Because of them, she has a smile on her face 90 percent of her day.

“I never know if I am making an impact on them or if they care, but when they have a rough day, they want to talk to me,” she said. “I like being a presence in their lives, because they are bright lights.”
