Parents as Teachers earns international Blue Ribbon designation
Maize Early Childhood Center's Parents as Teachers program recently earned the prestigious Blue Ribbon Affiliate, the highest designation from its parent organization as a standout for serving families and changing lives in the OneMa1ze community. Maize USD 266's program accomplished 100 percent of criteria.
The program aims to promote young children's ideal early development, learning, and wellness by supporting and engaging with them and their families with the belief that parents are a child's first and best teacher.
Congratulations to, pictured from left, Principal June Rempel, Lead Parent Educator Michelle McAllister, and Parent Educators Jana Kubik, Stephanie Simmon, Petrissa Palmer, Erin White, and Samantha Berry! This year alone, they support 160 children in our community, a nearly 26 percent increase over last year. They have visited the homes of those children more than 400 times already this school year to provide vision, hearing, and developmental screenings; encourage parent-child interaction; and support parents. They teach using research-based curriculum, connect families with resources in the community, and build lasting relationships.
