Maize Board of Education
The Maize Board of Education is composed of seven members voted for by the Maize USD 266 community and elected to four-year terms. Six of the board members must live in three specific geographic districts, while the seventh can live anywhere in the district at-large.
About the Board
The primary function of the Maize School Board is legislative and judicial rather than executive. The superintendent of schools is responsible for the efficient administration and supervision of the schools.
The work of the school board falls into three main areas:
- Employment of a qualified superintendent.
- Development of policy.
- Seeing that policies are carried out by administration to the benefit of the school system.
As a public official, a school board member must do what is required by law. Because of the special trust charged to them by the community, they also must observe the ethics of that public office. The Maize Board of Education, desiring to operate in the most ethical and conscientious manner possible, adheres to a code of ethics.
The mission of the Maize School District is to inspire students to discover their potential through connecting, learning, and leading.
